When Politics Happens.

So often, the juiciest parts of a conversation occur between the words said.

To cellist Yo Yo Ma, music happens between the notes.

How well the match goes depends on how the team trained in the weeks before.

How smoothly the play goes depends on how dedicated the actors were during rehearsals.

You know where I’m going with this…

Politics happens between election days.

The grotesque ultra-marathon of political theater that just culminated in a result shocking to many, myself included, was made possible almost entirely by what happened before November 8th…

In between the lights of the TV cameras…

In between the numbers of the pollsters (poor, poor Nate Silver)…

In between the campaign rallies…

For the passive, politics will continue to happen to you.

Each of us has a part to play in what happens now.

Do the work. Be the change.
